There's this game called "The Game of Things." It's a really fun game once everyone is into it and not half distracted by the tv, dog, etc.
How it's played: You pass pieces of paper around and each person writes down an answer to a question of a card that is drawn. For example, if the card that is drawn says: "Things you don't want to find in a sandwich," each person answers that question with whatever they can think of - can be normal, truthful, or outrageous. Some answers my friends came up with while playing this round was: hair, a finger, spiders ... something crunchy but it's not ham .. and let's not talk about the rest. After each person has written down an answer on their paper, the paper is passed to the reader. The reader reads all the answers out loud. Then you go around in a circle starting from the person on the reader's left who will try to match an answer with the person who wrote it. If you guess right you continue to guess until you've guessed wrong and the next person will take their turn. If someone guessed you and matched you with the correct answer you will be eliminated out of the game for that round and lose the chance to guess/play. You cannot guess the reader. You win points for matching each person with the correct answer and you get double points if you are the last one guessing - the one who finishes the round.
It's a good idea for a party to get people talking and to get to know each other better. Best of all, if you play with close friends you'll start to see what your friends really think about you.. or what they really think about.. or what they would write just to throw you off.
This game is available at Target in the states and Walmart here in Canada. Also if you want you can buy it online for $30 at Amazon. It's a good conversation starter game if you're looking to have a party and you've already had one too many games of Pictionary, Boggle, Monopoly, etc - nothing wrong with those by the way.
There were many laughs cause everyone has their own unique way of answering their questions.
Anyway the next time I play I think I'll just play less competitively so everyone can have a chance. : P
