A few years ago little did I know you can be quite creative when it comes to makeup. You can probably do so much more with the makeup you have than you can ever imagine. For example, powdered blush can be applied onto your lips to give it a more matte look if your lips have too much gloss, clear mascara can be used on your eyebrows to tame messy and out of place hairs, dabbing ice cubes on your lips prior to applying lipstick can help the lipstick wear last longer(this I've heard of but have not yet experimented with so let me know if you have), and body lotion can erase and fix certain makeup flaws and mistakes on your face. I've come across these tips somewhere on the internet or from flipping through magazines over the past years.
Lately I discovered how to create your own primer. It's very simple and all you need are a couple of ingredients: foundation and body butter.
The best thing about this is it's cheap and it's perfect for small (or big) amounts. I just make a small amount cause I use primer on my lids to keep the powdered eyeshadow from falling off. It also makes the colors show up brighter. I think you'll find it helpful too if you don't already use a primer.
The only disadvantage is it's not waterproof. But you probably don't need a primer that strong anyways if you plan to stay dry (unless you're out on a rainy day, etc).
I found this video from Sheryl Ng quite helpful. Full instructions and tips on how to create your own primer. I tried it and it works pretty well. I used primer yesterday and today to do a natural gold shimmer/natural look.
Sheryl Ng also makes a lot of cute jewelery of baked goods and sweets. I am so excited to buy some of her stuff one of these days!
