MAC Studio Finish Concealer NW25
(scroll down to skip my rambling and jump into my concealer review)
I think I have a bit of a concealer obsession. For some reason concealers fascinate me much when I see the difference it can do for one's blemishes and eye bags. So when MAC's Pro Longwear concealer first came out, I decided to go to my nearest MAC store to give it a try. I was expecting something awesome but whether it would work for me would be a different story. I have normal to dry skin so not all products are good for my skin. Similarly, those who have oily and combination have different product needs.
In summary the Pro Longwear concealer is a NO for me. I found that I really liked the texture because it applies on smooth and the consistency was easy to work with. It's not thick or clumpy or drying in my opinion. However, it comes out of a pump from a glass bottle. I didn't like how the pump doesn't give control over how much product I want to use. It came out in a big blob but it's fine if you're covering two eye bags anyway, but without some control you can easily pump out too much product. It's a liquid to cream concealer and provides medium to full coverage but I guess my eye bags are unique cause it just didn't cover.
Darn, I was really looking forward to purchasing the new MAC concealer. I tried it out with help from three different sales assistants - I had to make sure. Two from the MAC store and one from the Bay. The one at the Bay recommended me the wrong shade. The first one from MAC offered me the right shade but it was obvious that it didn't cover. The second also suggested the same shade but insisted I tried MAC's Studio Finish Concealer since she saw that the Pro Longwear didn't cover well.
So I ended up getting the MAC Studio Finish in NW25 and I'm quite satisfied. It's a cream concealer that comes in a little round jar.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer Review
Coverage - Full coverage. I can layer this multiple times and build opaqueness.
Blendability - Very blendable just warm up the product on fingers and apply on area as needed.
Cost - $20 for 7g or .24 oz. It's decent for the quality and amount of product.
Long Lasting - I was told it's not exactly waterproof but you can swim with it and it wouldn't budge. I had it on at the gym and after some good cardio I can say most of it stayed put.
Matching Shade - NW25 - It complements my skin well and effectively conceals eye bags. Well, if you don't sleep there's rarely any concealer that can completely fix your bags. -_-
Additional Comments - Overall, a compact packaging good for carrying around in make up bag or purse. It also has SPF 35. I would purchase again and this is my new HG concealer. It used to be Conceal FX in Medium from my previous review but I later realized it doesn't resist water well. Worst of all it turns into a muddy clay-like substance when in contact with water.
Concealers I've tried:
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
MAC Studio Finish Concealer
Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer
Lancome Effacernes Concealer

Wow you've tried a lot of concealers. I'm surprised the MUFE one didn't work for you because it's so opaque when I use it on clients. I heard this MAC concealer was pretty good too. Maybe I'll dabble it in after I've used up all of mine (which is probably never since I have so many now).
haha yes and i plan to go to sephora to try even more! still want my guaranteed waterproof concealer! neway the MUFE one wasn't bad. but i think the shade didn't work out. either it's a shade too orange or it was too close to skin color. i usu go for concealers with an orange tint.
so how was laksa? ok? spicy?
Wahhh I just looked it up on makeupalley.com and it has a rating of 3.9 with 1344 reviewers. That's pretty darned good.
I'm always too lazy to use concealer. Also, it's the same with liquid foundation - I hate the perfect look with all of my blemishes covered, because when I have no makeup, I end up hating how I look. I become those girls who doesn't want to ever be seen without her makeup on.
I use the Smashbox Halo for more of a natural coverage.
I guess, as I heard youtube guru MszJackieChu say, I'd rather find skincare products that could get rid of my pimples and scars than find coverage products that can hide them.
