Health Challenge - Food Journal

Keeping a food journal helps me to be aware of what I am eating throughout the day. I usually update with photos of what I eat during the week or when I discover something yummy, but now (this week at least) I will keep a log of the food I eat on a daily basis. It also helps me figure out allergies and digestive problems, and it keeps me on track when I see what I eat on paper. If I see donuts appear three days in a row, I think it's obvious that my sugar craving is not under control. And sometimes while you're watching TV, you probably don't even know it after you've stuffed a whole bag of chips in your mouth or had one scoop of ice cream too many.

Let's revisit yesterday's meals:

Tuesday October 5th

Breakfast
  • Two pieces of spelt toast with almond butter and some honey
  • A banana
Snack
  • Nectarine

Lunch
  • Brown rice with steamed chicken leg
  • A piece of dark chocolate..
  • Few almonds
Dinner
  • Nando's chicken with spiced rice
  • Fries...
Snacks
  • Multigrain rice crisps/crackers
  • Cup of lychee juice
  • Few sips of apple juice

Summary
The french fries dehydrated me. I didn't drink enough water either. Maybe two cups? Sadly, no veggies intake yesterday. Will try to update with today's meals after dinner.

Wednesday October 6th

Why don't I see the french fries anywhere?

I didn't know that almond butter existed. Where do you get that from?

what do you mean? fries came with the nando's chicken. stephen ate most of that.

almond butter is a healthy and delicious alternative to peanut butter, low in sodium or some no sodium at all. you can get it from either costco or superstore where they have pc's blue menu brand. your local grocery store might have it too.

Keeping a food journal definitely helps too and really opens your eyes to what you're putting in your body. I use The Daily Plate though.
